Our personal tasting notes cite the 2019 Claret to be rich and balanced, with layers of soft polished tannins exhibiting pronounced flavors of ripe cherry, blackberry pie filling, mocha, chocolate raspberry truffle, and sweet toasty oak, which integrates nicely with the subtle background notes of pepper, leather, and cedar.

Wine Enthusiast’s Stunning Praise For 2019 Claret

Wine Enthusiast had this to say about our 2019 Claret: “This classic combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec leads with aromas of ripe blackberries, violets and cigar box. Sturdy tannins back flavors of blackberry, bacon and cedar. This is a medium-bodied wine with a lean, clean texture. It will likely offer enjoyment for another four to five years.” — Michael Alberty

They awarded us a 90 point designation, which is labeled as an “excellent, highly recommended” rating.

The 2023 Oregon Wine Experience Honor Of Best Of Class

We presented our 2019 Claret for the 2023 Oregon Wine Experience Competition, and were so incredibly excited about taking how the Best of Class award for Red Blends. We competed against several other wineries that hold many awards and distinctions, and could not have been happier to be one of only six other varietals to go home with a Best of Class designation.

 

Northwest Wine Report Can’t Get Enough of 2019 Claret!

Sean P. Sullivan from The Northwest Wine Report awarded the 2019 Claret the Critic’s Choice award, and another 90 Point designation, which they advertise to mean represents an extremely high quality wine ranging from excellent to exceptional.

They noted that our 2019 Claret shows “pleasing sophistication” and highlighted the specific ratios of the wine, with Cabernet Sauvignon comprising 37% of this wine and Merlot 31%, with the rest evenly split between Cabernet Franc and Malbec. They discovered delicious aromas of cocoa, tobacco, cedar, and mushroom lead to medium-bodied, bright flavors.
