(Quick!) Healthy Recipes And Their Wine Pairings
Lots of people are on the hunt for quick and healthy recipes and their wine pairings!
The entire month of January we have been celebrating all the little things that make life so GOOD and JOYFUL! Our weekly themes have ranged from Family & Fun to Food & Fitness.
At the beginning of the year, many of us make resolutions and goals for the year. They might include living healthier by adding in more exercise, or eating more nutritious foods… but a lot of us fall off the bandwagon as early as February 1st! It’s HARD to change our life habits all at once. So, since our theme this week is FITNESS, but we also care a lot about having time for FUN and FAMILY, we have collected some yummy FOOD recipes that are quick, easy, and healthy that will help you stay on track as we head into February!
Incidentally, they also pair amazingly with some of our favorite RoxyAnn Wines. 🤗
If you’ve been searching for some inspiration for quick and healthy recipes and their wine pairings (that will still allow you all the time you want to have fun with friends, spend time with family, and focus on the joyful parts of life) we hope this blog gets you on the right track!
This recipe comes from chef
Heather who originated in Southern Oregon! If you spend a little time on her website,
Heather Likes Food, you’ll become a “rockstar cook” in no time!
This recipe only takes 30 minutes from start to finish, and it incorporates lots of delicious veggies and tons of protein! You could also switch out the steak for chicken, shrimp, or even tofu or tempeh to make it vegetarian/vegan friendly!
The spices and flavors of this dish pair
perfectly with our
2018 Merlot! And don’t forget, you can either swing by the tasting room to pick up a bottle or visit our
online shop to have it shipped
directly to your door!
We love the story of Andrea’s Farm-To-Table lifestyle that shines through all of her blog posts: a farmer with 6-acres in the wilds of Oregon, Andrea creates interesting recipes that feature local produces and all the zest of life. Her Salmon & Pesto Frittata is no different and each tangy bite is sure to give you a rush!
Our hearty 2021 Sauvignon Blanc, with its’ bright citrusy notes and long lingering finish, makes a stunning combination with the herbaceous flavors of the basil pesto featured in this dish.
And if you’re wondering, yes, we are advocates of having breakfast for dinner.
Karista Bennett is the author of The Oregon Farm Table Cookbook and has appeared in countless publications including The Oregon Wine Press. You will be absolutely WOWED by these delicious Five Spice Pork Meatballs, and if you want to get really wild you can pair them with her Savory Oregon Blueberry Sauce!
Couple this entree with a tasty kale salad (hey, you could even use a bagged salad, we won’t tell!) and you’ve got a delicious and healthy meal in 45 minutes or less.
But your table wouldn’t be complete without a good wine. The notes of cherry & spice in our
2018 Pinot Noir bring out the delicious flavors of the meatballs and make every mouthful feel like an adventure.
Local Haven is another favorite Oregon food blog that features lots of recipes that are quick, healthy, and even toddler friendly! Ashley Marti continues to share classic dishes that fill the soul, and her
Chicken and Rice Soup with lots of cilantro is certainly no exception.
This is also one of our favorite kinds of meals: a “throw the ingredients in the pot and let it simmer” dish, the kind that will fill your home with delicious wafting aromas of comfort and warmth… while you get to spend your time doing other things!
A perfect pairing for this pleasant dish is our
2020 Chardonnay, which offers just enough creaminess to compliment the heartiness of the wild rice and a balanced brightness to offset the savoriness of the cilantro.
Waz Wu is a vegan cook who resides in Portland and not only serves up fun, travel-related blog content about FOOD in Oregon, but also is an amazing resource for vegan or vegetarian foodies everywhere. Her food is fun and adventurous but also utilitarian, in the best way. These burgers can be made ahead of time and frozen for an easy, re-heatable meal whenever you’re short on time or energy.
Make a big batch and freeze them in order to get several tasty meals out of them! The patties can also be diced up and served on lettuce wraps with different sauces to create several unique flavors from the same entree.
These incredible black bean burgers can really be dressed up any way you like but if you style them after Waz’s inspiration, with a juicy red salsa and a side of guacamole, they would pair well with a medium-bodied, rich and balanced wine like our
2018 Malbec!
These are just some of the quick and healthy recipes and their wine pairings that we found from Oregonian chefs & foodies. But if you have a dish that you have paired with one of our wines, we would LOVE to hear about it: post your recipe and a photo of your favorite RoxyAnn Wine to Facebook or Instagram and tag us!
Stay tuned for more pairings and recipes in the future. And in the meantime, we are wishing you all the JOY that this January has to offer!
