Oregon Merlot & Tempranillo

Have you tried an Oregon Merlot and Tempranillo? RoxyAnn Winery produces both of these wines and November is a great month to try them! International Merlot Day is celebrated every year on November 7th and we’ve got delicious Merlot that is grown and produced in Oregon. Next, International Tempranillo Day is celebrated on November 13th, and Oregon also produces some great Tempranillo here locally. We think you will be pleasantly surprised by both of these wines!

Merlot is a red wine grape, made famous by the movie Sideways, and is a dry, medium-to-full-bodied wine. It commonly has a soft, “velvety” texture and flavors of plum, black cherry, and chocolate. It originates from the Bordeaux region of France. The RoxyAnn 2021 Merlot has pronounced flavors of ripe cherry, blackberry, black currant, mocha, chocolate, and sweet vanillin oak. Our award-winning Merlot is highlighted by richness and balance, with soft, layered tannins and a long polished finish. Come visit the Winery to taste what we think is the best of Oregon Merlot.

Tempranillo is a versatile red grape variety from Spain. It produces wines with a range of flavors like cherry, plum, and tobacco, and a color from bright ruby red to a deeper garnet. It also pairs well with a wide variety of foods, including Spanish dishes like cured meats and paella, as well as hearty meals like burgers and steak. This makes it a great everyday drinking wine! The 2019 RoxyAnn Tempranillo is dense and concentrated. Our Oregon grown and bottled Tempranillo offers notes of dark raspberry fruit wrapped in leather, earth, and spicy oak. The pallet provides blueberry, blackberry, and candied rhubarb. The structure is rich and supple, with smooth polished tannins that balance the persistent finish.
