The Jack Day Signature Series is a tribute to our founder Jack Day’s original vision of growing grapes on the historic Hillcrest Orchard Estate with its perfect sloping hills, clay soils, and spectacular southern sunshine. Armed with the dream of an artisan farmer and a Harvard MBA, Jack Day helped plant the original 20 acres on the Southwest slopes of Roxy Ann Peak. Our first harvest at RoxyAnn Winery produced 150 cases of our proprietary red “Claret” consisting of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot — and the rest, is well, history.
Today, our RoxyAnn Claret is a beautiful blend of our Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, followed by Cabernet Franc and Malbec. When blended, these four unique wines create one harmonious whole — highlighted in our Jack Day Signature Series (available May ONLY).
2017 RoxyAnn Cabernet Sauvignon
A stylish and balanced expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 RoxyAnn Cabernet Sauvignon opens with notes of blackberry and raspberry backed up by cedar box and vanilla spice aromas. On the pallet, sweet black cherry fruit and spice box flavors framed by big but balanced tannins give this wine its focus and depth.
2017 RoxyAnn Merlot
This wine exhibits pronounced flavors of ripe cherry, blackberry, black currant, mocha, chocolate, and sweet vanillin oak. The structure is highlighted by richness and balance, with soft, layered tannins and a long polished finish.
2017 RoxyAnn Malbec
This wine exhibits pronounced flavors of blueberry, blackberry, currant, and mocha. Aromas of spice box and leather balanced with purple fruit aromas. This full-bodied wine is rich, balanced, and soft. Silky tannins and a long persistent finish make it a wonderfully versatile food wine.
2017 RoxyAnn Claret
The structure of this wine is rich and balanced, with layers of soft polished tannins. This wine exhibits pronounced flavors of ripe cherry, blackberry pie filling, mocha, chocolate-raspberry truffle, and sweet toasty oak, which integrates nicely with the subtle background notes of pepper, leather, and cedar.
